Surplus Platforms

The Sustainability Office operates two digital surplus platforms, Scots Surplus, for Staff and Faculty to freely exchange furniture around campus, and the Macalester Electronics Surplus Store (MESS), a way for Students, Staff, and Faculty to purchase decommissioned electronics for personal use.

MESS

Macalester Electronics Surplus Store (MESS) is a marketplace where Students, Staff, and Faculty can purchase used electronics that ITS no longer has a use for. Prior to being sold, these electronics are tested and wiped by ITS. Currently, orders are pickup only, and new postings are added to the website on a rolling basis as ITS processes items.

Scots Surplus

This is a platform for Staff and Faculty to exchange their surplus office furniture across campus, as well as request surplus furniture from the Olin Rice basement. Log in with your Single Sign-On to view available items, request items for your space, and post unwanted furniture to exchange.
