Reusable To-Go Containers

Macalester is currently operating a reusable to-go program at Cafe Mac. To keep track of container check-outs and returns, Macalester uses Fill it Forward, an app with unique QR codes on each container. Using this system, students can check out a reusable green box like a library book. When taking food to go, students first scan their box at the front desk and show the cashier the checkmark to confirm the box has been successfully checked out. After eating, students bring their container back to the Campus Center, scan the QR code on the machine to the right of the front desk, scan their box, then drop it in.

How It Works

Step 1: Download Fill it Forward and sign up/log in with your Macalester email

Step 2: Ask for a green box after swiping into Cafe Mac, scan your box and show them your checkmark

Step 3: Take your meal to go and enjoy!

Step 4: Return your empty container to the Campus Center. Scan the QR code on the return bin, scan your box, then drop it in!
