On Campus Interviews
Admissions interviews at Macalester are recommended, but not required. On-campus interviews are available Monday-Friday year-round and on and Saturdays during the fall semester. Interviews are conducted by Admissions counselors, interns, and interviewers. Please allow for 45 minutes.
Students can interview as early as the January prior to their senior year. Seniors who wish to interview must do so by February 1 of their senior year. Transfer students must interview by April 15. Each student may only interview once.
Interviews at Mac are relatively informal (no need to dress up unless you want to!) and should be viewed as an opportunity to have a conversation with a Macalester admissions staff member. We recommend interviews because they allow us to get to know you as an individual and learn more about what makes you tick, but also give you a chance to get a sense of Macalester and to ask any questions you may have. No need to come with a resume, but please do come prepared to talk a little bit about yourself, as well as to learn a little bit more about Mac!
Off Campus Interviews
Off-Campus interviews with alumni or staff may be available on a limited basis. Contact the Admissions Office for more information at email@example.com. Students interested in interviewing with alumni should interview by February 1 of their senior year. Transfer students must interview by April 15.
Overnight VisitsSpending the night in a residence hall with a volunteer host is the best way to experience Mac life outside of the classroom. Overnight visits are available during the academic year only.
Reservations for on-campus overnights must be made at least two weeks in advance. We cannot provide overnight accommodations during vacations, examination periods, Friday and Saturday nights, or for more than one night. Space is limited; plan ahead.
Because so many high school seniors request overnight visits, Macalester is not able to host juniors overnight. We welcome juniors for daytime visits and campus tours.
Please note that persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when checking into a hotel in Minnesota.
