Kagin Dances

Kagin Dances are held in the Alexander G. Hill Ballroom in Kagin Commons. Only registered student organizations are allowed to host these dances. Sometimes they may have a theme of the hosts choosing. Kagin Dances are approved on an application basis by the Campus Center Programs and Services staff and student staff team.

NOTE: Kagin Dances are canceled for the Fall 2021 Semester due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These events are often in high attendance and full of energy. We cannot safely host hundreds of students in an enclosed space and expect that guidelines such as mask-wearing and social distancing will be fully adhered to by all participants, nor is it possible to remind folks of such guidelines in a lowly-lit space with loud music playing in the background. If the amount of cases in the area improves, this will be re-evaluated and will continue to be re-evaluated upon our return in the 2022 Spring Semester.

Other types of dances

Other types of dances on Campus may occur, only if they follow the required guidelines.

  • Per Reservations policy, dances must be hosted through a Registered Student Organization or a Campus Department, (IE, an individual cannot host a dance on their 0wn, as they are not allowed to reserve space on their own).
  • Two appointed members of the organization or department must meet with Campus Center Programs and Services professional staff at least 14 days prior to their event.
  • Five hosts must be selected from the organization or department to assist with staffing the event, along with a professional staff member from Campus Center Programs & Services, and must attend a Team meeting with professional staff and Public Safety to review procedures, expectations, assigned duties, etc.
  • Campus Center Programs & Services provide one professional staff member for Kagin Dances only. A dance outside of this will need to have a professional staff or faculty member in attendance for the entire duration of the event and this must be pre-determined and shared with Campus Center Programs & Services staff at least seven days in advance.
