Asher Smith

Asher joined the Community Engagement Center in 2026 and serves as the Department Coordinator, providing operational and programmatic support across the CEC’s wide range of community-engaged initiatives. They track multiple budget lines, support events and workshops, manage communications and website content, and help ensure the day-to-day systems of the CEC run smoothly. Asher also supervises student office assistants and assists with data management and assessment efforts that help strengthen and sustain the Center’s work.

Before joining Macalester, Asher worked in higher education spaces focused on ethics, public engagement, and student-led media. They bring a background in program coordination, communications, and event production, with a particular interest in building strong internal systems that support meaningful community partnerships.

Outside of work, Asher enjoys checking out local coffee shops, bookstores, and live music venues, spending time with friends, and staying active in the Twin Cities music scene through community radio and DJing.
