Women in Economics
What is Women in Economics?
Women in Economics (WIE) is a student organization dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive community for female-identifying and non-binary students in the field of economics. We aim to address structural barriers in the discipline by providing peer support, academic resources, and career guidance.
What We Do
WIE creates opportunities for students to grow professionally and personally. Through events and programming across the academic year, WIE provides spaces for students to connect with peers, engage with faculty and alumni, and gain exposure to a wide range of economics-related pathways.
Our three main pillars are:
- Community Building: We host social events to create a tight-knit support system, ensuring no student feels isolated in their classes or worried about the economics field. These events strengthen connections between students across class years and help foster a supportive environment within the department.
- Professional Development: We organize internship focused events and panels with alumni, professors and professionals in fields such as consulting, banking, research, and public policy.
- Academic Enrichment: We facilitate research opportunities and technical workshops to ensure our members are competitive candidates for their post grad paths.
Members: Our focus is on the female identifying/nonbinary experience in economics. WIE welcomes students at all levels of interest and experience.
Meeting times: Monthly events held in Carnegie. Look out for emails and posters!
