Summer Hours
Heading to the cabin? Enjoying the summer sun on your favorite patio? Macalester will begin summer hours on Monday, May 13 and they will run through Friday, August 23. Operational needs may vary across departments, so consult your manager about your options for summer hours. This tradition allows employees to redistribute their work schedule over 4 1/2 days during the summer, in order for offices to close early on Friday afternoons. Employees may increase their working hours on Monday through Thursday in order to work fewer hours on Friday. A common approach is to work 8.5 hours/day Monday – Thursday and 4.75 hours on Friday. During summer hours, all employees are required to maintain the number of hours each week that corresponds to their FTE. This is a voluntary program, and some employees may prefer to work their regular hours throughout the summer.
