Karen Soto

Visiting Instructor, English and Creative Writing

Karen Soto is a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota with a background in early medieval languages and literatures, specifically Old English, Old Norse, and Latin. With a masters in Medieval Studies from Western Michigan University, Karen has nearly a decade of experience teaching the literature and history of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, along with additional experience teaching science fiction, fantasy, and horror literature. In her classes, she seeks to encourage students to confidently express their ideas through a combination of analytical and creative writing assignments and to engage in thoughtful discussions within a classroom community.
