Mark Drozd is an applied microeconomist, specializing in labor economics and the economics of education. Dr. Drozd’s research broadly examines the various factors that shape human capital investments. His current research examines how poor mental health affects educational attainment and occupational choices, using life-cycle modeling techniques to quantify the benefits of mental health improvements at different stages of life. In another project, Dr. Drozd examines the role of academic advisors in shaping the educational trajectories of community college students. Dr. Drozd has also published research on women’s human capital accumulation, assessing how the pandemic recession, with the unique features of school and childcare closures, affected working mothers’ wages.
