Senior Thesis 2017

A Proposition of Curiously Arranged Arbitrarily Integrated Objects (for no particular reason)

2017 Senior Thesis Exhibition
April 28 – May 14, 2017

Opening Reception
April 28th, 7 – 9 pm

In their Senior Thesis exhibition, Macalester College’s 2017 Art Majors showcase projects which range from ritualistic and historical performances on ceramics; large-scale monuments to trauma; critiques of gentrification and commodification of urban landscapes; devices and environments for reading images; fresh approaches to historical painting movements; guerrilla installations of solitary characters; and safe places for intimate dances.

Aptly titled, ‘A Proposition of Curiously Arranged Arbitrarily Integrated Objects (for no particular reason),’ the students are keenly aware of the function their culminating exhibition serves – a way to recognize their work and collective achievements in the program – which may only be related by the exhibition, program, and cultural times, that tie them — or the associations found between these forms.
