Taylor’s past professional experiences have included working at a residential substance abuse
treatment facility and college counseling center. He has specialized in working with mood
disorders (anxiety/depression), trauma, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, stress,
relationship issues, and grief. Additionally, he has special interests in positive relationship skills,
stress management, self-care skills, emotion regulation techniques, mindfulness, time
management skills, identity development, LGBTQ affirmative therapy, and working with
international students.


In his work with clients, Taylor takes an evidence- and strengths-based approach in collaborating
with his client’s unique perspective, identity, and history. He strives to create a nonjudgmental,
safe and authentic therapeutic environment working towards his client’s goals and creating
positive change. Taylor utilizes a variety of theoretical frameworks with his clients, and these
include Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT),
grounding techniques, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive
Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT).


Taylor is White (Norwegian heritage), gay identified, cis-gender man with roots in rural
Southwestern Minnesota. He has lived in the Twin Cities since 2008.
