About Us

The Laurie Hamre Center for Health & Wellness offers integrated medical and counseling services as well as campus leadership on health promotion and sexual respect for all students and serves as a resource supporting the entire Macalester community’s effort to build a healthy campus. We are dedicated to providing care, support, and connection to resources for students of all identities.

Mission

The mission of the Laurie Hamre Center for Health & Wellness is to create a healthy community by working with students to achieve physical, emotional and social well-being while promoting the value of life-long learning and health.

Aspiration*

The Hamre Center seeks to infuse health into the everyday operations and practices that touch the lives of our students. Through this effort, we work to enhance the success of our institution; create a campus culture of compassion, well-being, equity and social justice; improve the health of the people who live, learn, work, play and love on our campus; and strengthen the ecological, social and economic sustainability of our communities and wider society.  * Adapted from the Okanagan Charter, 2015.
