Ongoing Physical Activity Classes

Research has shown the undeniably positive effects of exercise on mental health.

Open to students only. Register for free physical activity classes that focus on the mind and body connection.  The six-week classes begin during the week of January 30, 2017.

Registration opens on Monday, January 23, 2017.   Space is limited. You will receive a confirming email with class location if you are enrolled in the class.

Fitness 101
This class will provide different exercises for people who are new to physical activity or haven't done it in a while. The class begins with an easy level and builds throughout the semester.The exercises focus on core and stretching. Music, hard work, sweating, fun. Even though the class is designed for beginners, all levels are welcome.

Movement Class
This class will help you explore new ways of moving in order to build inner strength and community resilience?  This class incorporates movement from Acroyoga, contact improv, Yin yoga, experimental theatre, and Bartenieff fundamentals in order to explore the mind-body connection. Design of each class is flexible to include student goals and wishes. The class is inclusive for all levels of experience and ability, all body types, and all gender and sexuality identities.

Yoga Strength

Increase strength, flexibility, and body awareness, and leave feeling more calm and refreshed.  Mats are available or feel free to bring your own.

Core Strength
Want to strengthen your core but don't know where to start? Bring your friends to a short, high energy core strength class featuring fun, motivational music! Core Strength hones in on the torso and sling.

This yoga class combines the mind and body with instruction for all levels. Whether you are a beginner looking for a way to relieve stress and tension, or you are an advanced yogi looking to challenge yourself, this class is sure to leave you feeling calm and refreshed.

Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, Studio 1

Zumba  (Check out the video)
This fun and high-energy dance class incorporates styles from around the world, such as Latin, hip hop, belly dancing, Bollywood, Persian, and maybe even some throwbacks to the 1970s and 1980s.  All levels are welcome. Don't feel intimidated - come out and dance.

WHAM Classes (these classes have a registration fee):
There are also several classes that are offered during the noon hour through WHAM programs. These six-week classes have a $20 student registration fee. Registration begins January 12 at Health and Wellness Center for these classes or pay and register online.
