Ongoing Physical Activity Classes

Research has shown the undeniably positive effects of exercise on mental health.  Resilience is built when physical activity is included in your day-to-day activities.

Open to students only.  Register for free physical activity classes that focus on the mind and body connection.  The six-week classes begin during the week of November 6, 2017.

Registration opens on Monday, October 30, 2017.   Space is limited. You will receive a confirming email with class location if you are enrolled in the class.

Core Strength
Want to strengthen your core but don't know where to start? Bring your friends to a short, high energy core strength class featuring fun, motivational music! Core Strength hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. Modifications are offered for varying ability levels, all are encouraged to attend! This workout is followed by an extended stretch.

Stretching with Yoga Elements
The class will be calming yet challenging. We will do different types of stretching to take care of our bodies during the overwhelming school time. Some yoga elements and breathing exercise will be included. This class is for everyone; especially for students who exercise but tend to struggle with stretching, students who want to have a calm self-care time during the week, and students who want to learn more about stretching and their bodies.

Thursday, 6:00 - 7:00 pm, Studio 2

This yoga class combines the mind and body with instruction for all levels. Whether you are a beginner looking for a way to relieve stress and tension, or you are an advanced yogi looking to challenge yourself, this class is sure to leave you feeling calm and refreshed.

Thursday, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, Studio 2

Yoga Flow
We’ll start with 5-10 minutes of body weight core exercises to get warmed up, then move into a 45-minute vinyasa flow. This means the beginning will be stretching (sun salutations), followed by a series of strength-building poses, and finally some balancing postures and stretching to finish up. I’ll offer modifications for more/less intense options, so come join us whatever your yoga level!

This fun and high-energy dance class incorporates styles from around the world, such as Latin, hip hop, belly dancing, Bollywood, Persian, and maybe even some throwbacks to the 1970s and 1980s.  All levels are welcome. Don't feel intimidated - come out and dance.

WHAM Classes (these classes have a registration fee):
There are also several classes that are offered during the noon hour through WHAM programs. These six-week classes have a $20 student registration fee. Registration begins October 30 where you can pay and register online.
