The Department of Spanish & Portuguese sponsors residences on campus for students who are interested in living in a Spanish or Portuguese-speaking environment. Residents speak only the target language while in the house. The residences are intended for students who have achieved at least an intermediate level of proficiency and want to maintain or improve their language skills.
Residents of La Casa Hispana and Casa de Português celebrate a variety of traditions by organizing educational events open to the community. The houses also function as a hospitality center when distinguished scholars are visiting the department.
