Professor Tonnis ter Veldhuis is a theoretical elementary particle physicist. His interests include the physics of the Higgs boson, the celebrated particle recently discovered at the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s most powerful particle accelerator, and the physics of dark matter, the substance recent observations indicate to be the dominant component of particles in the Universe. Professor Ter Veldhuis also studies supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, and he investigates scenarios in which the Universe is embedded in a higher dimensional space-time. He uses a combination of analytical tools and computational techniques to confront newly developed theoretical models with state of the art experimental results and observations.
