Jesse Meisenhelter—2014 Fellow

Jesse Meisenhelter

Year: Class of 2016
Major: Political Science
Organization: MN Extensions and the Minnesota Food Access Network

I partnered with University of Minnesota Extension for my Chuck Green project. I divided my summer into two main projects: a video about the importance of donating nutritional foods to food shelves and a report providing GIS analysis of the food system in Minnesota and recommendations regarding a statewide food policy network and food policy council.

This opportunity provided me with the autonomy to try new skills (GIS and videography). The fellowship also  introduced me to an incredible mentor who helped me meet a diverse set of professionals in my field. Chuck Green also allowed me to travel all around the twin cities and the state of Minnesota to meet new people which really changed my perception of where we live. Lastly, I greatly value everything I learned from the individuals in the Chuck Green cohort and their projects.

I encourage students to apply for the Chuck Green Fellowship who feel ready for the autonomy and self-direction!
