Kagin Teaching Kitchen

The Kagin Teaching Kitchen (Kagin 117) is a newly renovated kitchen in Kagin Commons intended as a community learning space for cultural student organizations, identity collectives, classes, departments, etc., to host events open to the campus. The kitchen is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm unless reserved by a group.

The LSC hosts its ongoing “In the Kitchen With…” (ITKW) program in the Kagin Teaching Kitchen. If you have any questions about the ITKW program, please contact Sam Taitel, [email protected].

Reserving the Kagin Teaching Kitchen

Would you like to host an event in the Kagin Teaching Kitchen? Email [email protected] with your reservation request. Please include the following details in your reservation request at least two weeks in advance:

  • Name of event
  • Brief description of event
  • Campus affiliation (student org, identity collective, dept, etc.)
  • Date and time requested (including set up and cleaning afterwards)
  • Approximate attendance

Please note that student orgs and collectives get priority access to the Kagin Teaching Kitchen. Requests will be responded to within 5 business days. Same day requests are discouraged. Individual use of the kitchen will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Can I use the Flemming Room (Kagin 118) during my reservation?

    Yes, the Flemming Room will also be blocked off during your reservation time to ensure that events do not overlap.

  • Can I use the microwave and sink?

    Yes, the microwave and sink are available to use. Please be considerate of events taking place in the kitchen.

  • Can I use the dishes in the kitchen?

    Yes, please make sure that you clean up after yourself and either wash the dishes you use or put them in the dishwasher. Do NOT leave dirty dishes in the sink.

  • Can I use the refrigerator?

    At this time, only Kagin staff and reservations holders are able to use the refrigerators.

  • Can individual students (not affiliated with a group) reserve the kitchen?

    Individual use of the kitchen will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please email [email protected] with your request.

  • Is there a cost to reserve the kitchen?

    There is no cost to reserve the kitchen space. Basic ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and other seasonings are available for use by reservation holders.

  • What happens if I need to cancel a reservation?

    Please reach out to Sam Taitel at [email protected] if you need to cancel your ITKW reservation.

  • What equipment/appliances are available for use?

    One stove top and 2 ovens are available for use. There is also a rice cooker, blender, and air fryer available. All the basic kitchen utensils (knives, cutting board, measuring cups, mixing bowls, etc.) are available. If there is a utensil or item that you think would be helpful to have, please email your request to [email protected]

  • Who do I contact if something is damaged or broken during my event?

    If you notice that something is damaged or broken, or something becomes damaged during your event, contact Cornell at [email protected]. Please notify us immediately so that we can replace the item in a timely manner. Please leave the broken/damaged item at the LSC front desk.
