Linda is a plant molecular biologist and biochemist interested in uncovering how plants defend themselves against pathogens at the molecular level despite relying only on an innate immune system rather than an adaptive one. Her current research focuses on the single-cell transcriptomic responses in plants exposed to bacterial pathogens. She uses CRISPR-Cas9 technology to generate plant knock out mutants to dissect the roles of specific genes in plant immunity. Outside Macalester, Linda can be found biking the Twin Cities trails with her family, visiting museums or enjoying dinner with friends.
