The Economic Club of Minnesota has a terrific slate of speakers lined up for this year and two Macalester students may attend free of charge. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about current issues and interact with members of the local business, academic and policy communities. Interested students should send Professor Ferderer an email that briefly explains why they would like to attend a particular event.

Study Abroad
Economics students who are interested in study abroad or study away (elsewhere in the U.S.) are encouraged to do so. The Economics Department actively collaborates with the International Center in creating opportunities for students to study abroad in locations all over the world, from Shanghai, China to Auckland, New Zealand; from Cuzco, Peru to Marseille, France.

Start planning early

You don’t have to know where you want to study to begin thinking about the possibilities and where a semester away might fit within your academic program. Students are encouraged to talk with their advisors, familiarize themselves with the application process, and work with their International Center advisor.
