MacNest Internship Program

MacNest provides internships for students to work closely with a founder in a complex, demanding work experience while deepening Macalester’s connections and influence in the Twin Cities startup ecosystem.

Are you curious about entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup culture? Do you want to gain experience to use in your academics and toward your future job? Do you want to understand the impact individuals can have on early stage ventures?  MacNest is a summer internship program where students receive funding for unpaid internships with Twin Cities startups. Students will receive $5,000 to work 35 hours per week and attend Thursday morning career development workshops to make connections in their internship experience.

Application open for Twin Cities startups looking to host an intern – Deadline is March 30th at 8am

MacNest is seeking a diverse set of local startups to be involved in the program. Any venture (NGO, non-profit, foundation, LLC, etc.) that has been in business for 0-3 years is eligible. As a startup, you have the chance to hire a highly motivated and intelligent intern, and someone else pays for it! If you meet the MacNest requirements and space is available, one member of your team will be invited to come to our Student-Startup Matching Event to present a 1-minute pitch of your business, emphasizing the skills and attributes you aim to add to your team. Apply now!

  • If you have previously participated in the MacNest program, we reserve only two spots in this summer’s 2020 MacNest program for returning startups.
  • As the College makes adjustments in light of COVID-19, there may be changes to the format or even the status of MacNest this summer. We still encourage interested startups to apply at this time, and will make sure to keep applicants up to date as we learn more in the next few weeks.

2017 was the inaugural year of the MacNest program hosted in collaboration with the Internship Office and Career Explorations For further questions, please contact .
