The Macalester College’s Human Resources provides service in the areas of staff employment, benefits, compensation, student employment, labor and employee relations, management consultation, training and HR information management systems in alignment with the values, vision and mission of Macalester College. We have recently made updates to both our Parental Leave and Sick Time Donation Policy. Effective February 1, 2024 employees with an FTE of 0.50 or greater will be eligible to receive 12-weeks of full-paid parental leave (prorated by FTE) for the birth, adoption, or foster care placement immediately upon hire. Effective March 1, 2024 staff will be able to donate up to 23.25 hours (24 hours for CBU and Public Safety) to a sick time bank, prorated by FTE each calendar year. Receiving employees will no longer need to ask their colleagues to make a donation for them to use during an approved Family Medical Leave (FML) of absence.
