In the past, economics graduates have gone on to work a wide variety of jobs in the business sector. Students who are looking to purse a career in such areas as financial services or management consulting should consider the following:

(a) Take a number of electives in the areas of accounting, finance and capital markets, entrepreneurship, money and banking, and international finance.

(b) You are strongly advised to apply for a business-related internship.

(c) Keep in mind that business employers are very interested in a strong analytical background as well as a diversified liberal arts curriculum. Students are advised to take several courses related to a career in business outside of the Economics Department, including speech, writing, computer and math courses and, if you plan an international career, foreign language courses.
