Ian Whitehead is a number theorist specializing in automorphic forms, L-functions, and multiple Dirichlet series. His primary interest is in the construction of automorphic forms with on infinite-dimensional spaces, and multivariable Dirichlet series with infinite groups of functional equations. These constructions have applications to the analytic continuation of L-functions and the statistical distribution in families of L-functions. His research encompasses questions in analytic number theory, algebraic geometry, representation theory of Kac-Moody groups, and metaplectic automorphic forms. Outside of mathematics, he enjoys hiking, sailing, skiing, trivia, and making pottery.
