Sonya Berlovitz designed over 60 productions for Tony Award winning Theatre de la Jeune Lune, She currently designs for The Moving Company collaborating with them on productions at The Guthrie Theatre, Playmakers Repertory Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, South Coast Repertory and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Productions elsewhere: The Children’s Theatre Company, The New Victory Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, History Theatre, Interact Center for the Performing Arts, Ten Thousand Things, Park Square Theatre and dance companies including Zenon Dance Company, TU Dance and Minnesota Dance Theatre. In 2016 she designed costumes for As You Like It at the Macalester Department of Theatre and Dance.
Ms. Berlovitz graduated from La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She worked as a textile specialist for fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and also has been the recipient of many grants and awards from The Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, Costume Society of America, Minnesota State Arts Board, two McKnight Theatre Artists Fellowships and a Sage Award for excellence in dance design.
