Members of the LB at 2022 Fall Retreat

There are many ways to get involved with MCSG, even if you are not a representative!

– Run for a Class Representative, Liaison, or Executive Board Position

The elections for class representative positions take place each April following the Executive Board elections, while the four First-Year Representatives are elected in early September. The Executive Board elections take place in March after Spring Break. Look for an email from MCSG announcing elections during these times!

– Attend Weekly MCSG Meetings

You don’t have to be a member of MCSG to attend meetings. Weekly meetings of the Legislative Body occur on Thursdays from 12-1, typically in the Harmon Room. Check the MacDaily for more details!

If you don’t have time to attend Thursday meetings but would like more information on MCSG’s weekly activities, check out previous weekly meeting agendas and weekly meeting minutes for a better glimpse of what MCSG is currently working on.

– Contact an MCSG Member to Share Your Comments and Concerns

Whether you’re a member of a student organization, have a concern or an idea, or just want to chat, all of MCSG serves as a resource for you. A good place to start is by contacting via email one of your Class Representatives or a member of the Executive Board. Email  or stop by the office on the second floor of the Campus Center.

– Campus Committees

Interested in getting involved but not interested in running for office? Campus committees are a great way to get involved with student academic affairs, financial concerns, managing student organizations, and much, much more! More information can be found here.

– Think About Working for MCSG

A few work-study positions allow non-Legislative Body members to connect to their student government. Check this site or the Macalester Employment Services jobs board in the spring or fall to learn more or apply for an open position.
